How Will You Travel and Find Inspiration in Living the Good Life?
Dreams fuel creative inspiration.
I'm retired and yes I get a social security check and a teacher's retirement that covers my basic needs. And I appreciate that. But you know what? I don't just sit around and watch TV all day. I have hobbies and passions that keep me busy and happy. I love gardening, writing, reading all sorts of material and connecting with like-minded people on social media.
I go for walks with my dog and chat with my neighbors. I'm not bored, but I’m lonely and want more out of life. I live a pretty secluded life and would like to be social with others…especially sincere, honorable people.
I don’t have any time for losers in life. People who are always looking for free. Free sounds like a good deal, but with my attachment and experience with free comes too many surprises. I rather pay what I have and have peace of mind that there are no strings attached.
I long for the simple life away from crowds of people and traffic
I long for a simple life, a life that doesn't rush me. I want to enjoy every moment, every breath, every smile. I want to slow down and appreciate the beauty of nature, the warmth of friendship, the joy of creativity. I want to live a simple life, a life that fills me with gratitude and peace.
I found the simple life that fits my life through traveling in a campervan. My favorite destination for traveling is the Western U.S. I enjoy the spaciousness and tranquility of this region, as well as the pleasant climate. The Western U.S. has many natural wonders and cultural attractions that I love to explore and learn from.
My home on wheels is a 2016 camper van that I bought in the Spring of 2020 and customized to suit my needs. I have everything I need in this cozy space for one person, such as a bed, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a solar panel. I love traveling around the country in my camper van and exploring new places.
I like the idea of not sleeping in hotel rooms and staying in crowded spaces. With the camper van my life becomes so much easier. I save money too. I prepare my own food, have my own comfortable bed to sleep in and a place for my clothes. There are plenty of places to stay, some are free, but usually I prefer to park in state parks so I can have access to public showers and some offer activities that your welcomed to join.
Writing is one of my favorite hobbies. I enjoy expressing myself through words and creating something beautiful out of them. I also have other interests that involve creativity, such as cooking. Cooking allows me to experiment with different flavors and ingredients and make delicious dishes. I find it satisfying to repeat the process of creating something new and original, whether it is a poem, a story, or a meal.
There’s no reason to be lonely (even though most people are) but the key is to become active and curious about life. Get out there and do something that is satisfying to you. Even if it is just taking a ride and enjoying the scenery.
Tips on Writing
One of the books I enjoy reading is "Creating Short Fiction" by Damon Knight. He says that writers are different from other people. They don't like to work for someone else's vision. They have rich imaginations, and they want to share their inner worlds with others. They use words to create stories that can be seen, heard or felt.
Damon Knight writes about structuring
your novel and how to place all the parts together and plug the plot holes. Writing is an art that takes thought and imagination.
What better way to see life at a different view than by traveling?
Kindly,
Carol
This is your best piece ever, Carol. You shared your inner self so openly and drew be in to your world. In a way I envy your life. Your freedom, your mobility and richness of your hobbies and interests. You say you feel lonely at times, but I think you have the best chance to live your life your way. People surrounded by other people rarely have any time for themselves. And in order to please everyone, they crush their souls. Enjoy your freedom girl. You are the richest person I have ever known.
