I like to share my experiences with other writers and talk a little about “what works for me”. After reading so many articles on writing secrets, I’ve finally come up with one that fits my personality and needs.

How I Got The Gray Camper Van
One day I got an idea of wanting to travel, but didn’t want to rent expensive motel rooms. After looking at several you-tube videos from cheaprvliving I settled on a cargo van that I found online.
I made the deal with a family-owned business who had great customer service. At first, I was a little nervous about buying a vehicle located in St. Cloud, Minnisota while I was parked in NW Louisiana. While having a patient young techie salesman, I felt comfortabe with him giving me a tour of the van using a video program using his smart phone. Hw was able to show me everything about the van from small scratches on the paint job from letting me listen to the sound of the motor. Even though I don’t know a lot about motors, I learned more about the vehicle with a virtual tour vs. an in person tour.
After purchasing the vehicle, I paid for delivery. Two men driving a flat bed truck drove up in my front yard and unloaded my van, gave me a delivery receipt and was on their way.
Shortly after taking possession of the van, the pandemic hit. I was laid off from my job, so I had plenty of time to build it out. I was lucky to hire a good carpenter to help me put it all together. The build went well, but I added unnecessary expense. One needs to “know thyself” and just add the things that are used based on your travel habits. I will elaborate more on this in another post.
Where I Live
As I’m writing this post, I’m located in Oro Valley, Arizona USA. I’m here visiting my daughter and working on my novel among other things like writing on Medium, Linkedin and Quora.
My homebase is located in western Louisiana, where I reside most of the year.
I often go to Texas State parks and stay for several days where I can write, meditate and relax. The gray van is equipped with internet and all my writing materials. Being out in nature is so uplifting and brings joy to my soul. I really believe lakes, mountains, tall pine trees, full moon nights inspire my imagination to make me a better writer.
Plans for the Newsletter
The newsletter will be free for now until I build my email list up to a higher number. It’s important to me to engage with like-minded members of the community.
I will post a new story concerning life in the gray camper van and send you the reader over to tik tok for a video . Or I will provide pictures here. Also, I will discuss writing my novel about a homeless veteran and write about writing hacks. It will be fun…I’m sure. Please feel free to reach out and I will be so happy to meet you here. And should you have a Medium profile…I will read, comment and follow.
You’re living my dream! Thanks to Neera for mentioning your newsletter. I look forward to reading your story.
Congratulations on starting your Substack newsletter. It is going to be fun reading it especially as your adventures unravel. I am sure driving around and exploring new places will give you plenty of material to write about.
I am delight to know that I you write at Medium and LinkedIn. These are two platforms I am active as well. I did not get started on Quora and probably won't as I don't have the bandwidth. Once again, welcome to Substack!
